Xtreme 678 Summer Camp

Day 17 Ice Age Swim Party
June 30, 2008, 11:10 pm

Today, the bus left a very hot parking lot and headed towards Idaho IceWorld. The bus was full. No empty seats. (So please remember that only the first 22 teens that have registered, paid the $10.00 day fee + the $5.00 Field Trip fee can go, so it is a good idea to call the day before a swim trip or an adventure trip just to see if there is any room on the bus). We arrived at Idaho Ice World and very smoothly got our skates on and got on the ice. We had a lot of fun and right in the middle of some Xtreme skating this guy got a table on the ice and started some karaoke going. SWEET! We did see some very Xtreme and brave teens sing some tunes for us.

We skated and sang and then headed to the bus for some lunch.

We spent the rest of the afternoon trying to avoid the heat, tired from a really cool day.

Thursday we are going to Gowen Field for a tour. To ensure a spot on the bus for your teen, pre-pay for Thursday as soon as possible. Our “Outings” are becoming very popular so the bus fills up fast. Your teen should have a hand-out with some information for you.

Day 16 Chillaxing, Xtreme 4-Way Tug-of-War and some Grilled Chicken Ceasar Salad
June 28, 2008, 12:32 am

After our Check In this morning the teens requested that we “Chillax” and just hang out in the Teen Center. That seemed like a good idea since most of us were a little tired from our hike yesterday. After some time of “Chillaxing” a group of the teens decided they had enough of the resting part of the day and decided to get some games of “Xtreme 4-Way-Tug-ofWar” going. That was a lot of fun.

We had a relaxed lunch and continued the afternoon with more “Chillaxing”(which is a mix of “chillin” and relaxing :) ). At 4:00 PM, we started our “Friday Feast”. The “Feast” included Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad, fresh Italian-Style Bread, Green Smoothies and boy, the teens were hungry. They ate everything. We also cleaned the place and it looks great.

PLEASE REMEMBER THAT MONDAY WE GO SKATING AT IDAHO ICE WORLD. THE BUS LEAVES AT 10:30 AM, AND ONLY THE FIRST 22 TEENS THAT HAVE PAID THE $5.00 TRIP FEE CAN GO DUE TO LIMITED SPACE ON THE BUS. THERE WILL BE NO OTHER ACTIVITIES AT THE TEEN CENTER UNTIL WE GET BACK FROM SKATING BETWEEN 2:00 PM AND 2:30 PM.

Day 15 Hiking to Tablerock

Our newly named bus “Moby Dick” rolled out of the parking lot around 10:30 AM and headed towards Table rock. A very bubbly and excited Xtreme 678 crew did check in on the bus. We arrived at the Penitentiary, grabbed our lunches and started the hike. Some teens ran, some teens walked, there was a small group of teens that stopped half-way up and rested. The main part of the group arrived up on Tablerock and enjoyed lunch there. We then went and did some Xtreme rock climbing, took some pictures and headed towards the bus. We did have a couple of wipe-outs on the way down, but nothing to serious.

We got to the bus and bandaged the “wounded” and headed back to the Teen Center. We did our check out and spent the rest of the after noon listening to music and drinking green smoothies.

Day 14 Karate and Crazy games

Today our day started with our wonderful friends from Idaho Martial Arts instructing us in some Karate. We then spent some time just hanging out playing games in the teen center. We had lunch and then we played some “DR. War Ball” and then …well…then we played what has become known as “Xtreme Xtreme Spongebob”. It is hard to describe but you can be sure that most teens get really wet when we play it. Staff as well. Have them explain it to you. We then did our check out and spent the rest of the day having fun.

We are going to Table Rock tomorrow. Make sure your teen has paid and is wearing good shoes tomorrow.

We are not going to Gowen Field next week. That date has been moved. We will go on the 31st of July instead. On Thursday next week we will go swimming at the YMCA.

Day 13 Swimming at the YMCA

The bus, now named “Moby Dick”, left the Teen Center parking lot around 10.30 AM and headed towards the West YMCA. We did our check in on the bus and got to the “Y” safely. We swam and did all kinds of crazy things and then had lunch at 12:15 PM. We went back and swam some more and one of the staff almost drowned due to to many teens hanging on the poor staff member :) . We headed back to the teen center and spent the afternoon hanging out, playing games and just chillin’.

We also got the long awaited replenishing of our snack cabinet. There are now plenty of really healthy snacks and juices. If you want to you can send your teen with some extra money to purchase these snacks and juices. We also have really healthy burritos for a dollar.

Please Check Out yesterday’s post for changes to our Adventure Day on Thursday!

Day 12 Crazy Monday and Changes in Our Schedule
June 23, 2008, 9:25 pm

We started out this Monday with our usual check-in and then went into some free time where the teens played some pool, darts, and hung out and talked. We then played some Xtreme Capturing of the Flag and had lunch. After our lunch we went outside for some crazy Xtreme games, which usually involve water and getting really wet and today almost everyone, including staff, got really wet. It was definitely tons of fun. Ask your teen about the Triple Xtreme dunking of the heads.

We then did our check-out (in Moby Dick–also known as our adventure airship) and spent the rest of the day hanging out.

Thursday’s Adventure Day has changed. We will hike up to Table Rock in Boise. So your teen needs to come prepared for Xtreme hiking. Good shoes, two water bottles, sun screen, lunch, maybe a snack, and a hat. The cost for this day is $10.00 for the day and then a $5.00 Trip Fee. Please sign up and pay right away because of our limited space on the bus.

Tomorrow we will be swimming at the West YMCA again. Last time we had a blast and we expect the same kind of craziness this time. If your teen is going, make sure they have paid the $5.00 Trip Fee because of our limited space on the bus.

Post 11 Mock Trial and Friday Feast

Today started out with the long-awaited mock trial. The Teens from the Xtreme camp played the roles of Judge, Persecutors, Defense Lawyers and a Jury. As you may have read the teens got instructions from a real life lawyer earlier this week, and they seemed to have learned a lot from him. It was almost like a TV Court Room Show, with loud objections and tough interrogation and cross examination of witnesses. The teens did an awesome job and the person accused was found not guilty by the jury.

In the afternoon we Barbecued some turkey burgers and turkey dogs, with whole wheat buns and water melon. It was a feast. The cost for this is $2.00 which is something to remember for Fridays. Your teen(s) need $2.00 on Fridays to eat with us. Week number two is finished. Eight more to go. Summer is good.

Day 10 The Hiking has begun

The still un-named bus (although there was some indication today that the group was leaning towards “Moby Dick”) slowly filled up this morning with tired but excited teens (many of whom reported feeling like a 10 today as far as their mood went). We did our “Check-In” on the bus and headed towards Camel’s Back Park. We arrived and immediately went up the front of the largest of the hills. We adventured around the back and then when we came back we had lunch. We did witness some pretty amazing brave balancing acts from some of the teens on the back side. We had lunch and then had a time of silent meditation (five seconds in order to get our guns ready) that was rudely interrupted by the staff who had hidden water guns in the lunch coolers. We then played a very Xtreme game of “Capture the Flag” all over the hillside of Camel’s Back Park. Have your teens tell you about it– it was definitely crazy and fun. We cooled off with a very short but intense water fight and headed back to the Teen Center where we made Snow Cones and our very popular Green Smoothies. We were all very tired and slightly wet. Two teens decided that before we got back on the bus, they would race up the front of Camel’s Back. Another fun and Xtreme day at the Xtreme 678 Summer Day Camp

Day 9 Lawyer, Karate and Xtreme Capture the Flag
June 18, 2008, 9:19 pm

After our “Check In” this morning we received a visit from Tom Maile, a real life Lawyer. He talked to us for a little bit. He then instructed two of our teens who will be lawyers for the mock trial this Friday. The Xtreme campers are taking part of the Youth Summer Camp’s Career Day on Friday by being lawyers, jury and judge for this trial. Apparently some Ice cream got “stolen” :) on Tuesday and this whole thing will be sorted out on Friday.

We then got a visit from Idaho Martial Arts for our weekly Martial Art instruction. It was super cool and some of the teens are catching on quickly and are really enjoying themselves.

We then played some Xtreme water games and started a game of “Capture the Flag” that we never finished. We’ll have to finish it tomorrow.

Karate Instruction

Tomorrow we will go to Camel’s Back Park for our first Adventure Trip. Please remember good shoes and 2 bottles of water, lunch, maybe some sun screen and a hat. Our bus will leave at 10:30 A.M. Remember the cost for this will be a total of $15.00. Only the first 22 teens that have paid will be able to go.

Day 8 Swim Trip to the Nampa Rec Center
June 18, 2008, 8:28 pm

We headed towards Nampa right around 10:30 A.M. and somehow managed to get a bit detoured from our desired route, but finally found our way to the Rec Center. We had lunch in the shade of some big trees outside the Rec Center and then “invaded” the pool and played some pretty Xtreme water basketball. We then did a swim test to demonstrate our water prowess in order to be in the Lap Pool and subsequently started a competition to see who could swim under water the farthest. Needless to say, we saw some pretty impressive underwater swimming. We enjoyed a pretty crazy bus ride back to Eagle including “Check Out” and some funny stories and super random comments from a Swedish bus driver. Back at the Teen center we enjoyed an afternoon with some water fights and lots of hanging out talking.

The teens behaved awesome and it was a very fun trip for teens and staff alike.
